Ditch the “Shoulds”

Raise Your Vibration & Amplify Your Life

Amplify: To expand something (such as a statement) by the use of detail or illustration; to make larger or greater (as in amount, importance, or intensity) - Merriam-Webster

If everything is energy and I am here to live out my purpose and dharma and attract people, jobs and experiences of similar vibration, then heck yeah, I am interested in amplifying my life, my vibration! How about you?

In order to do this, it’s helpful to embrace a few or all of the following truths about this crazy world:

The Longest Journey is From Your Head to Your Heart

I spent most of my life in the mind, enmeshed with my thoughts. Stay in the mental, suppress the emotional!

I would ruminate over the same thoughts day in, day out. That running ticker tape that is sometimes called our “monkey mind.” It's been said that we have 60-70,000 thoughts a day and 90% are the same as the day before!

Your Soul’s Calling at Midlife

Make no mistake, your Soul is calling.

When you hear the gentle (or not so gentle) stirrings, read this ancient reminder from Rumi, Sufi poet. He wrote:

“The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep.

You must ask for what you really want. Don’t go back to sleep.”

What does your soul, your spirit say to you? Does it come in visions, in words, in signs? What have you long ignored within yourself that is calling to be awakened? What can you do to listen? Words, sounds, feelings, deep inner knowings.

When Parenting Feels Hard

For the longest time, I thought parenting was all about my kids. How they were behaving, what words came out of their mouth, and what attitude they might be taking. As parents, we typically react to what our kids do, usually in the way that we were raised, without truly holding a mirror to ourselves. And even when we are willing to take a deeper look at our relationships, we don’t have a roadmap as to how to do it.

Moving from holiday mayhem to mindfulness

Holidays used to be the CRAZIEST time for me! I’ve never considered myself a perfectionist but the holidays brought out some crazy, intense version of me. Far, far from the authentic self I now know and love.

When we are unaware of our patterns and how controlled by them we are, we tend to do things on autopilot. For me, holidays used to involve but were not limited to: baking dozens and then eating many cookies, sending out 150+ holiday cards (easily), projecting onto others how I was going to make all of their holiday dreams come true, and buying many, many gifts! Basically going 150 miles per hour, every day, every hour. Where did I fit into all of that? The bottom of the holiday pile for sure……..

How to be a Conscious Parent & Raise Conscious Kids

As parents, we’re given the privilege and responsibility of raising children and playing a role in the people they become. Being a parent can be just as brutal as it is beautiful (or as Glennon Doyle says, “Brutiful”), and can challenge us to our very core. When faced with tantrums, sibling turmoil, and the insurmountable task of raising kids — it can be extremely difficult to stay grounded and parent from a place we are proud of.

How to Trust Your Intuition

There are knowings unique to you, to your own life and experience. We are not taught early in life to be aware of intuition that comes to us in the form of a “knowing” and therefore, we learn to dismiss these. By culture, we are trained away from our senses and toward a uniform way of thinking and doing. Intuition is not included in our schooling; we are lucky if we have someone in our lives that teaches us that intuition is important when we go to make decisions and choices in our lives.

What Is Conscious Coaching?

I began my work with conscious coaching during my certification with Dr. Shefali Tsabary’s Conscious Parenting Institute. My learning with Dr. Shefali was my entry point into this world of heightened awareness and consciousness. What she calls ‘Western Psychology meets Eastern Philosophy’. But the benefits of learning to live more consciously extend far beyond the realm of conscious parenting.

Conscious Coaching is an invitation to take a deep look at our belief systems, patterns of behavior, triggers and reactions, and how cultural and family of origin conditioning inform our current day choices. With increased awareness of how we are moving through life, we bear witness to ourselves and become more empowered in who and how we want to be.

Creating a Nurturing Environment for Our Kids

One of the greatest gifts we can give to our children is the experience of feeling safe to express themselves within the parent-child relationship. From an early age, we can create a safe container for our kids to express themselves without judgment and shame. This is the foundation for sharing through their years.

How many of us never had the space to share what we were truly feeling with our parents? How many of us withheld because we had a feeling that we might be judged for what we felt? If we were lucky, we had trusted friends to confide in and the experience of sharing safely within a relationship. When we were not heard, our authentic self suffered and our emotions likely became suppressed. This has likely played out in your adult relationships, often not knowing how to express yourself in a healthy way.
